ACManager/GIS

ACManager/GIS is a comprehensive asbestos-containing materials management tool for industrial, commercial, and public buildings and areas.ACManager employs geographic information system (GIS) tools that will make the job of locating and managing ACM in your facility accurate and efficient. ACManager uses Microsoft Access® database structures, queries, reporting and security for a robust and stable database environment.ACManager provides the most cost-effective and simple way to achieve your asbestos management goals, including:

The survey, inventory and periodic reassessment of all suspect and known ACM to ensure that ACM is maintained in an undamaged (non-hazardous) condition; Tracking of abatement and renovation activities through a work order system; racking and training individuals who may encounter ACM during their normal work activities; and Developing work practices and procedures that will allow renovation, construction or emergency maintenance to be performed safely without exposing employees, building occupants, or members of the public to airborne asbestos fibers.

Overview of ACManager/GIS components

Hardware and Software Environment

ACManager/GIS is a compiled Microsoft Access 97® run-time application designed for 32-bit Microsoft Windows operating system platforms (Windows 95/98, Windows NT). ACManager/GIS is installed as an independent Microsoft Access® runtime program on your system so that it will not interfere with any existing Access profiles or application settings. ACManager/GIS requires at least 16 Mb or RAM, but 32 Mb will significantly improve performance when the ACM GIS mapping component is employed.

Program Scope

ACManager/GIS provides several components for complete management of ACM at your facility, including:

A project management filter can be used to manage ACM in your facility. A project task module lets you assign and track asbestos management training, inspection, abatement, and other ACM management activities.

Survey Data can be captured at whatever level of detail you choose, including type, location, analytical laboratory results, and potential costs of management or mitigation.

ACManager provides recommendations for assessing hazards associated with identified ACM materials. ACManager will analyze the material present and offer suggestions for management response.

The work order system allows you to track activities that may expose employees to ACM.ACManager provides summaries of OSHA asbestos controls required according to the proposed work activity. Forms to track and evaluate work order success also help in compliance and risk management.

Employee training and certification information can be tracked in ACManager. This information is indexed to training logs and work order assignments so that compliance with OSHA and management policy objectives is easily monitored.

A rich and flexible suite of tools for describing the location of ACM materials or related locations is available, including the capability to store and retrieve photographic and other image/document association with each location. The premier location tool is the ACM GIS component, which allows you to link any location record to a mapped object. You may call the map of the location from the database record, or load ACM GIS independently and query maps from any facility.

ACManager provides a number of references for calculating the costs of ACM management, exploring regulatory requirements, maintaining a training and certification program, complying with notification and labeling requirements, and constructing an operations and maintenance plan.

GIS -Intelligent Mapping

The ACM GIS component of ACManager/GIS can be used to map the locations of asbestos-containing materials, signs and notices, air monitoring locations, and other Places you might manage with ACManager/GIS. GIS stands for geographic information system, an emerging information management technology allowing you to turn static electronic drawing files into spatially sensitive data visualization tools - "intelligent maps".

ACM GIS can be summoned from the Maps menu of ACManager, from the GIS command on several of its forms, or completely independently of ACManager. The maps that ACManager/GIS creates are actually collections of facility drawings that you create from existing CAD sources (such as AutoCAD® drawing files) or from a variety of image formats, which are combined with objects drawn in ACM GIS.
