Staff Environmental Professional/Consultant,
interested in participating on a variety of projects covering the full spectrum of Strata’s services and joining our consulting team in Knoxville, TN. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers on multi-media environmental compliance projects. This is an excellent career opportunity to work with a senior expert consulting team on a wide variety of aspects of challenging environmental projects for large industrial and global clients.
 
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Assist clients with regulatory obligations by preparing plans, permits, applications, calculations, reports and other documentation for air quality, hazardous waste, chemical inventory (EPCRA), storm water, SPCC, and wastewater programs
  • Complete air quality recordkeeping/reporting
  • Perform regulatory analyses and environmental compliance assessments; assist in developing follow-up corrective actions and solutions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Conduct site visits/inspections at client facilities
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in engineering, environmental science, or other related science; E.I.T. preferred
  • 1 to 5 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships preferred
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations preferred
  • Experience in evaluating business focus and direction with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria preferred
  • Self-motivated and customer-focused; excellent written/verbal communication, client interaction, and organization/analytical skills; high attention to detail; critical thinking and problem solving; experienced analysis/recording/writing detailed technical data and reports
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent computer skills: proficient in using Microsoft Word and at least an intermediate to expert knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel required.
  • Experience with databases, programming, and data analysis preferred
  • Safe driving record and willing to travel with valid driver’s license

Environmental Engineer/Consultant to join our consulting team in Knoxville, TN. In this role, the Environmental Engineer will be responsible for assisting various clients to maintain environmental compliance with the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, etc. This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging environmental projects for industrial and global clients. Critical to the success of this role is a passion for helping client companies meet their compliance obligations while maintaining operational flexibility and a keen focus on detail and quality of work products.  A commitment to excellence and drive for success are paramount. 
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Preparing permit applications for various environmental media with diverse regulatory requirements and industries throughout the United States.
  • Collecting relevant data from client operations and perform necessary interpretations and calculations to determine air emissions for industrial processes and related operations.
  • Determining regulatory compliance for all environmental media based upon facility operations.
  • Interpreting complex environmental regulations to assist industrial clients with implementing and tracking environmental compliance solutions in a cost-effective manner.
  • Preparing supporting documentation and reports, including but not limited to engineering calculations, engineering drawings, regulatory compliance reports, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, Spill Prevention, Countermeasure, Control Plans, air emissions permit applications, storm water permit applications, and waste-water discharge permit applications.
  • Interfacing and negotiating with state agencies on behalf of clients regarding environmental compliance and permitting issues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical/Environmental/Civil/Mechanical Engineering is required.  Professional Engineer preferred.
  • Five (5) years or more of environmental consulting (or industry) experience, with a focus on air quality permitting, compliance, regulatory analysis.
  • A working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Experience in evaluating business focus and direction with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria is preferred.
  • A strong work ethic, be self-motivated, be a strategic thinker, and be customer focused. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, client interaction, and organization/analytical skills.
  • Exceptional organizational/analytical skills to manage/support multiple concurrent projects with a high attention to detail; critical thinking and problem solving; experienced analysis/recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills, and be proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and database management, and at least an intermediate to expert knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel. 
  • Experience with databases, programming, and data analysis preferred.
  • The ability to travel throughout the United States is necessary.
