GEOLOGIST/ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER
Strata Environmental has a position open for a mid-level geologist/environmental engineer. Duties will include Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, subsurface investigations, and soil and groundwater remediation. This position will involve the characterization of environmental conditions and hazards related to a wide variety of site settings. Projects typically will involve historical research and multimedia sampling for petroleum and hazardous substances including collecting groundwater, soil, surface water, and sediment samples, conducting sample management, and operating field monitoring equipment. This position also will be required to support technical report preparation comprising tasks such as preparation of investigation work plans, design and implementation of remediation activities, writing specific sections of technical deliverables and planning documents, preparing calculations, overseeing the development of maps and drawings, preparing data tables, conducting data entry and analysis, and preparing cost estimates. Good physical health and the ability to work in rough terrain are required for performance of field tasks. The successful candidate will be required to obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification upon employment.
Applicants must have a BS Degree in Engineering or Geology or a related discipline [advanced degree and professional certification (PE/PG) are preferred], and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. Relevant experience includes environmental consulting, with specific experience conducting environmental field activities, remedial investigations and environmental studies, and conducting industrial environmental audits and transactional Phase I environmental site assessments. Current certification of OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and experience with environmental site operations; monitoring well drilling, logging, and installation; and multi-media environmental sampling are a plus. Proficiency in MS Windows and MS Office applications are required; MS Project, MS Power Point, and AutoCAD are a plus. The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of responsibility, initiative, motivation, and positive attitude. Experience supervising field teams is a plus. Applicant must also be willing to travel and participate in all project tasks ranging from field work to data analysis and report preparation.
